That does not make caliber conversion effortless. The whole upper has to be one caliber — you can't turn a 9mm slide into a .40 by changing the barrel — and the frame's ejector (trigger housing) and your magazines must match the upper's caliber. A .40 upper needs a 3-pin frame, and Glock does not factory-support cross-caliber upper swaps.
