G34 vs. G17: The Glock 34 slide and barrel are roughly 0.78 inches longer than the G17, giving a longer sight radius and slightly higher muzzle velocity. It is the competition platform of the Gen 3 lineup — pick this slide if you are building a USPSA, IDPA, or range gun where overall length is not a holster constraint.
Break-In: Genuine Glock slides arrive lightly oiled. Apply additional lubricant to the rails before assembling onto your frame. After installing the barrel and recoil assembly, hand-cycle the slide 50 times to verify smooth lockup and barrel hood timing before live-fire.
